When researchers at Vanderbilt University tracked the diets of more than 70,000 Americans for five and a half years, they found that those who ate the most peanuts had a 21% lower risk of death in that time frame than those who ate the least.
Study author Xiao-Ou Shu says, “Peanuts are rich in unsaturated fatty acids, fiber, and antioxidants, all of which benefit your heart.
Just a small handful (two-thirds of an ounce) every day could gain you similar benefits, the researchers say.
