Sure, olive oil is great, but it’s time to show another lipid some love. A new study finds that people with higher blood levels of linoleicUntitled design-17 acid – a fat found in grape seed, but not olive oil – have less body fat around their organs, less inflammation, and more lean body mass. While we used to get plenty of linoleic acid from soybean, safflower, and sunflower oils, cheap processing has reduced reduced healthy fat levels. Today, grape seed is one of the few food sources of linoleic acid, with about 80%.

The oil’s slightly nutty flavor is great for stir-fries, sautés, and homemade dressings. Opt for expeller- and cold-pressed oil for the best quality.
