After many years of testing, the first of the “biological: “mAbs” was just approved: these are once per month injections to prevent migraine; the price is much less than was anticipated(6,900 per year; first 2 months free; rebates if one qualifies); short-term: very well tolerated, few side effects; long-term: unknown. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/u-fda-approves-amgen-drug-015953808.html

When is this expected to be available for patient use? Also, is this an auto-injector?
Dr Robbins, when will this new drug be available for patient use?
Most people with chronic migraine, who have not done well with usual treatments, are eligible; the money and preauths are one thing; the other is we don’t know about long term side effects; in the studies, for one or 2 years, they have been very safe thus far…..
Awesome news. Now all I have to do is decide between fewer migraines, or food.
Excellent point. But why eat? I’ll just get a migraine anyway!
DOC, you told me once these drugs work for a certain group of people; can you please comment on how we know if we’re part of that group.
Thank you!
