Presented at: 45th Annual Scientific Meeting
American Headache Society
June 19-22, 2003; Chicago, Illinois

Objectives:
Primary: Demonstrate superior analgesic efficacy of single 20- and 40-mg. doses of valdecoxib vs. placebo in treatment of a single moderate or severe acute migraine headache.

Secondary: Evaluate other efficacy factors, tolerability, and safety of valdecoxib vs. placebo.

Conclusions:
A single 20- or 40-mg. dose of valdecoxib is effective and well tolerated in treatment of a single moderate/severe migraine headache. These results suggest that valdecoxib 40 mg. is the optimal single dose for treating single migraine attacks.
