"Sinus" Symptoms with Migraine are Consistent
Over Multiple Attacks
Schreiber C.P., et al.
Posted August 2003
Presented at: 45th Annual Scientific Meeting
American Headache Society

June 19-22, 2003; Chicago, Illinois

Objectives: To assess the presence of migraine-associated symptoms and sinus/nasal symptoms over 3 attacks.

Conclusions: Over 3 attacks, these subjects consistently reported experiencing sinus area pain, sinus area pressure, and other sinus/nasal symptoms along with typical migraine symptoms. For these subjects with migraine, which was previously physician diagnosed or patient self-described as “sinus” headache, sinus area symptoms were more consistently experienced than many of the cardinal features of migraine. The clinical presentation of these migraine sufferers whose migraine attacks had prominent sinus features may have been responsible for their not having been diagnosed as having migraine headaches.
