Migraine Characterized by Age Group

June 19-22, 2003; Chicago, Illinois

Objectives: To define the clinical spectrum and provide a prognostic profile of migraine stratified by age.

Conclusions: This study confirms and expands existing knowledge and clinical impressions that younger and older age groups differ from the middle ages. The nervous system with its relative instability in younger ages and less flexibility and responsiveness in older ages appears to conform to this age related concept in migraine. Age is an important dimension for stratifying headache patients in clinical practice, clinical trials, and research. This study provides a comprehensive profile of age related migraine and non-migraine characteristics in a migraine population.
